Chichester Town Library COVID-19 Policy on Reopening the Library

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our community, state and country, and as COVID-19 circumstances continue to change, the Chichester Town Library Trustees are taking a gradual, phased and flexible approach to reopening the Library and resuming library services.  Safeguarding the health and safety of our library staff and patrons is of the utmost importance. This document is subject to change in order to best respond to changing circumstances.

Our approach takes into account State and Federal guidance from public health organizations including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and NH Department of Health and Human Services (NH DHHS), the Governor’s Emergency Orders, the Governor’s Economic Reopening Task Force recommendations, local conditions, and state and national library associations recommendations. Science-based protocols will be used so that visits to our Library can resume safely for the benefit of patrons, staff and our community.

Curbside Service

Beginning Monday, May 18, 2020, the Library will begin by resuming curbside library services. During this period, staff will be in the Library to receive phone calls and emails from patrons requesting desired materials to be checked out. As before, delivery will take place in the Library parking lot at an agreed upon time. The public will not be allowed inside the Library at this time.

People may feel free to call the Library at 798-5613 during its business hours or may email the Library at clibrary@comcast.net with requests or questions. Please be sure to provide your name and a contact telephone number so that we may get back to you as soon as possible. The Library website has an on-line catalogue of available books ( https://ctlnh.booksys.net/opac/ctlnh/index.html#menuHome ). In addition, staff are available during business hours to respond to questions and assist with selections of magazines and other materials. If you do not have a library card, you can obtain one on our website or call for assistance in obtaining one.

Books and materials previously checked out may be returned to the Library at this time, by placing them in the Book Drop.

The Down Under Bookstore remains closed at this time.

Patrons may continue to access and download audio books through Overdrive at https://nh.overdrive.com/ or by using the Libby app. There is no charge for this service. The public may continue to use Wi-Fi connectivity from the Library parking lot.

Resuming Services and Visits inside the Library

At a future time, yet to be determined, the Library will begin a gradual and phased in return to services inside the Library. Timing for this will be based on State and Federal guidance. During this time, curbside service will continue to be offered for those that wish to use it.

As the Library responds to circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we anticipate that required procedures in the Library will be revised as needed. People visiting the Library are asked to follow the guidance and direction of Library staff. The Library appreciates your understanding
