Cemetery Trustee Minutes
August 2, 2021 @ 10:30 the cemetery trustees met at the Historical Society building.
Fred Shaw, Ruthie Hammen and Brenda Boswak were in attendance.
In Leavitt Cemetery, Earl Weir’s lot is now located in #12 moved from #33 and a new deed issued. Cornerstones and a plot stone have been set on this lot. The cemetery trustees deemed lot #33 unsaleable due to the roadway being encroached upon by large trees and roots.
Ruthie met with Susan McQuire, who was visiting from California, to view the new headstones set for her parents on lot #137. (She is a granddaughter of Stan & Pauline Parmenter). Susan expressed her appreciation for all the time and help Ruthie provided to her in helping to choose, purchase and have the stones set for her and burial.
The cemetery trustees issued new deeds to Elaine Coffey correcting her lot from #11 to #10 and to Linda Viens correcting lot #10 to lot #11 in Pineground Cemetery.
Ruthie has contacted Mark Stevens, surveyor, and provided him with tax maps and abutters deeds in regard to determining the boundaries for Fellows-Webster cemetery on Swiggey Brook Road. There has been no response from the letter sent to the abutters.
Fred Shaw will contact Blaze Konefal and ask for copies of all existing trust funds for the cemeteries.
A letter has been sent to Gilbert and Joyce Vien, declaring the discrepancy resolved by placing their $570 and $30 from Town General Funds, to establish a trust for their lot. The lots were given to Viens at no cost.
Ruthie requested of the maintenance company to please be vigilant in not mowing off flowers planted on graves.
The cemetery trustees have updated the Cemetery Rules to address the issue of too many flags being displayed in the cemeteries, besides the American flag.
We want to reiterate the decision made in 2011 and 2013, all other flags are to be displayed on a temporary basis, and subject to application to the cemetery trustees for permission to display. ( See updated rules on Town webpage).
