"THOSE WHO SERVED"
Tim Patterson, local historian from Pittsfield, New Hampshire returns to the Chichester Historical Society on MONDAY. MAY 10 at 7:00PM for another exciting presentation. Tim's program will be held at the GRANGE HALL,  54 Main Street just across the street from the Chichester Historical Society Museum. This time Tim will present a program on Civil War soldiers who served from the Chichester area. Many of you may recall Tim's presentation last year about the local native inhabitants of this area. Tim brought interesting native items and conducted a very informative program on the original inhabitants of this area. Tim has done research on some of the men from this area who served during the Civil War and will share with us his research and stories. The members of the Chichester Historical Society have put together an exhibit of Civil War memorabilia that we have in our collection. We have quite a number of items belonging to Henry M. Sanborn who was a soldier in that war. If you do not have a chance to visit the museum after Tim's presentation be sure to stop by any Tuesday morning between
9:00 and noon. We will be serving refreshments following Tim's presentation. The program is free to all and we encourage you to tell your friends and family not to miss this exciting program.

COLONIAL GARDENS
One of our projects for this spring is to create a colonial garden adjacent to the museum in which we can grow some of the plants and herbs commonly found in the local gardens of the early settlers of Chichester. Many of the plants will be well known to us but some may be totally unfamiliar. It will be interesting to learn about some of the plants that were used for by our ancestors. Also we have the "hitching post" from the Hutchinson property which will be set up adjacent to the gardens.
IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN
Well, we've contacted the weatherman and, counting on his usual reliability, we ordered a nice cool summer evening with a slight breeze for MONDAY, JULY 12 for our annual picnic at Thunder Bridge. You bring a lunch and a chair and we'll bring beverages and dessert. The picnic starts at 6:30PM and usually ends when the mosquitoes drive us away. See you there!!!!

BARN CALENDARS
We have had many requests for the Society to again issue barn calendars. Good news! New barn calendars are in the final stages of production and should be available before long. This time we are showing barns as before but from a little different angle. We'll let you know when we receive the calendars from the printer. We have noted that since our barn survey of a few years ago several of the barns have disappeared. The barn calendars are one way of reminding us of our community history.

THUNDER BRIDGE MAGNETS
Another project we have been working on is our Thunder Bridge "refrigerator" magnets. These magnets have a picture of Thunder Bridge which is has been put on the National Register of Historic Places. These also should be available within a few weeks.

VIDEO CAMERA
We currently continue our program of listing all of our museum items on the computer and also photographing them. So far we have over 1500 items listed and most of them photographed. We would also like to have video and sound records of some of our programs and other appropriate locations and items. We are currently in the process of purchasing video and sound recorders so that we can better document and preserve our memorabilia. Also we are transcribing some of the documents and manuscripts that we have in our collection. We are always looking for items for our museum that relate to Chichester's past. Due to space restrictions we may not be able to accept all items. If you have an item you think might be of interest do not hesitate to contact any member of the Society or stop by the museum any Tuesday between 9:00am and noon.
