3. Report from Education-Information Program Coordinator Barbara Eggers was read by Ann:
I contact a total of 9 possible speakers for March, April, May and June. I received 6 responses, but most of the speakers from the NHFGC had a fee of 175 to 250.~ Alas, we will have to wait on those folks, but I did tell them we might be able to do something next year.~ Most offered a reduced fee for their first visit. I do have two speakers from the UNH Speakers' Bureau lined up:
March 26, John Carroll, speaking on "The Real Dirt:~ Toward Food Sufficiency and Farm Sustainability in New England."
John E. Carroll is professor of environmental conservation in the department of natural resources and the environment at the University of New Hampshire. In four decades at UNH, he has taught and done research on national and international environmental policy, diplomacy, ethics, and values as they pertain to sustainable agriculture and food systems.
April 23, will be Donna Miller, also from the NH Speakers' Bureau who will talk about "A Garden for Wildlife:~ Natural Landscaping for a Backyard."
I will get more info about her, and I will make up a few signs for Lisa to have at the library. I will continue to work on May and June, but I'm not optimistic considering the speaker fees. Let me know if you need any more info. Thanks, Barbara
Noted is that the Agricultural Commission has approved the partnership to help host the lecture series. Also, Ann will prepare the press release.
4. The Agenda included information regarding the Boston Flower Show.
