Cemetery Trustees
Aug 4, 2010

Present: Ruth Hammen, Robin Stephens, and Fred Shaw

Leavitt Fence Repair: Robin has walked the Leavitt Cemetery with both Kendal Stephens and Dawson Fence Co. to point out what repairs are needed to be done to repair damage from the earlier windstorm. She reported she has not heard back from either B-line Fencing or Northeast Landscaping. The two bids received differ dramatically in price so the Trustees feel that two things need to happen: 1 – clarification of work to be done and 2 – seek a third bid. Robin will contact B-Line again to see if they are interested.

Corner Stones: Fred pointed out, that since corner stones are required, payment should be made to the Town of Chichester instead of a monument company to insure funds are used appropriately. The Trustees will consider this suggestion.

Edmunds Cemetery: Scott has removed several sapling trees from this cemetery out of his regular budget. This is possible due to the dry summer where fewer mowings are needed.

Leavitt Cemetery: Owners of the Munsey lot have approached the Trustees about building a retaining wall to stop erosion. The Trustees feel that grading and reseeding should be attempted first to leave the lot in a more natural state. If this does not work, they will reconsider a retaining wall. The owner has agreed to try reseeding.

Cemetery Rules and Regulations: The Trustees have adopted a revised set of rules and regulations and will post at Pineground, Leavitt, and Knowlton cemeteries as well as online.

Perkins-Maxfield Cemetery: Gordon Jones is volunteering to care for this cemetery.

Hook Cemetery: The dead tree in the cemetery has been taken down by the town but disposal of the pieces is in question. Ruth will check with the town administrator to see if the road agent can remove the pieces.

Griffin Cemetery: Mrs Kennison, a direct descendent, is trying to get her sons to repair the gate. This cemetery is still private.

Cemetery Jeopardy: Scott Marston shared with the Trustees a set of jeaopardy style questions about our cemeteries that he would like to use on Old Home Day. The Trustees have given him their approval.
